Leakage

British bookmakers suspended bets on which character would be killed off in the new book after they noticed a flurry of bets on Professor Dumbledore from gamblers in Bungay in Suffolk, where the book is being printed, suggesting details had leaked out.

Rowlings' Scheduled Pre-Release Appearances

J.K. Rowling's only U.S. media appearances coinciding with the release of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" will be a taped interview on NBC's "Today" show and an interview with Time magazine.

For the midnight July 16 release itself, Rowling will do a reading at Scotland's Edinburgh Castle in front of 70 young fans selected by newspapers in England and several other countries.

Libraries, fans brace for Harry Potter and the mad rush



With a new Harry Potter novel set for release next month, many fans will jump at the chance to obtain a copy as soon as possible. For them, bookstore managers plan to stay open past midnight on July 15, when the 10.8 million copies of ''Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" planned for the American market will begin disappearing, as if by magic.

Harry Potter Star's parents fear Prague nightlife

Speculation that the fifth Harry Potter film would shoot in the Czech Republic took a hit this week as Mlada fronta Dnes reported that the parents of Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the young wizard, reportedly fear the young actor could succumb to Prague's wild nightlife, the daily (MfD) reported Tuesday.

Price War for Pre-ordered Books in Britain



WOOLWORTHS entered the Harry Potter price war today by dropping the cost of pre-ordered copies to £8.99.

The store is still more expensive than supermarket chain Asda which is charging £8.96 for pre-orders of JK Rowling's latest instalment.
